Me El-Asmar is an attorney and a member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec, as well as of the Law Society of Alberta. She is the founder of El-Asmar Legal, a law firm offering legal services in Canadian Immigration and Refugee Law.

Me El-Asmar graduated from McGill University in 2006 with a degree in Psychology and International Development Studies, where she worked as a research assistant to two professors. She completed her law degree at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) in 2010. During her studies in law, she received three academic awards for students with excellent academic standing.

Me El-Asmar is a member of the Young Bar Association of Montreal, the Canadian Immigration Lawyer's Association (CILA), and the Canadian Muslim Lawyer’s Association (CMLA), where she co-founded the Alberta-CMLA chapter. As a French-speaking jurist in the province of Alberta, she is also a member of the 'Association des juristes d'Expression Française de l'Alberta' (AJEFA).

From 2020 to 2021, she served on the Board of Directors of the Association Québécoise des Avocats et Avocates en droit de l’Immigration (AQAADI), an organization which aims to improve the practice of immigration law in Quebec and allow for better representation of its members before political, judicial and administrative institutions dealing with federal and provincial immigration. In October 2021, Me El-Asmar was elected by her peers to sit on the executive board of the Canadian Association for Refugee Lawyers (CARL). Founded in 2011, CARL is a non-profit organization that serves as an informed national voice on refugee law and the human rights of refugees and forced migrants. CARL’s membership includes over 400 lawyers, academics and law students from across Canada.
